Support for variant logical type

Issue description

It would be great if we could use this library to write Parquet files containing columns using the variant logical type. I wasn't able to find any documentation indicating this is currently supported.

I have some complex JSON that I would like to shred and write to Parquet, but I require support for the variant logical type.

Variant is not currently supported, something for the future.
