Is aws s3-like "cloud storage" supported?

I don't understand whether s3 based cloud storage is supported or not. Internet is giving me differing opinions.

I get it that I can mount an s3 service via s3fs, but from my experience it's awfully slow to the point of no use for anything production-grade.

borg 1.4.x is the current stable release for production. It does not have any cloud support builtin. Some people use it with rclone or other cloud tools though.

borg master branch (future "borg2") is in beta and not production ready yet. It has cloud support via borgstore.
