🚀 LocalAI
First of all, huge respect for this project.
The idea of a drop‑in OpenAI replacement that runs on any hardware – CPU, GPU, old laptops, even Raspberry Pi – is exactly what the open‑source AI community needs right now.
Your modular backend design (llama.cpp, whisper, diffusers, etc.) is brilliant: load only what you use, nothing more. And the fact that it supports multi‑modal tasks (text, image, audio, video) through a single OpenAI‑compatible API is a game‑changer.
You’re putting data sovereignty back into developers’ hands, and that matters more than ever. Keep pushing forward – this project has the potential to become the standard for local AI deployment.
I love LocalAI, but there’s one thing that keeps many potential users away:
Right now, Windows users are forced to:
That’s a huge barrier for a large portion of developers, hobbyists, and enterprise users who work primarily on Windows.
Why this matters
.exeinstaller would make LocalAI as easy to start as Ollama or GPT4All – which already offer Windows builds. My Suggestion
Consider publishing official Windows releases alongside Linux and macOS. It doesn’t have to be perfect from day one – even a preliminary build with limited backends would be a huge win for the community.
💬 Final Words
LocalAI is already amazing. Adding native Windows support would open the doors to a whole new wave of users and contributors. I truly believe this project deserves to be the #1 choice for local AI on every platform.
Thank you for your incredible work. We’re rooting for you! 🎉
P.S. If you need testers for a Windows preview, count me in!
