docker pull fails for published Alpine March 2026 security images (no matching manifest) #2428

@MikeMcC399

Description

@MikeMcC399

Environment

  • Platform: Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS system (amd64)
  • Docker Version: Docker Desktop 4.66.0
  • Node.js Version: 20.20.2, 22.22.2 & 24.14.1
  • Image Tag: 20.20.2-alpine3.23, 22.22.2-alpine3.23 & 24.14.1-alpine3.23

Expected Behavior

docker pull 24.14.1-alpine3.23 should pull the published image

Current Behavior

docker pull fails, with the following error message:

Error response from daemon: no matching manifest for linux/amd64 in the manifest list entries: no match for platform in manifest: not found

Possible Solution

Examine the publication process to Docker Hub.

Steps to Reproduce

Executed:

docker pull node:24.14.1-alpine3.23

Additional Information

Each of the published Alpine images from the March 2026 security release are showing on Docker hub without any architectures listed. Previous releases are showing with a number of architectures.

Image Hub Status Architectures
node:20.20.1-alpine3.23 pushed 6
node:20.20.2-alpine3.23 pushed -
node:22.22.1-alpine3.23 pushed 5
node:22.22.2-alpine3.23 pushed -
node:24.14.0-alpine3.23 pushed 3
node:24.14.1-alpine3.23 pushed -
node:25.8.1-alpine3.23 pushed 3
node:25.8.2-alpine3.23 - -

I'm not familiar enough with the build / publish process to work out whether this is an issue caused by building from docker-library/official-images#21109 or whether it's a Docker Hub issue.
