What answers will you be verifying?

We will be answering discussions labeled question. Answers to product feedback and bugs are not eligible to be verified at this time.

How do I get my answer verified?

There is no guarantee your answer will be verified, but a strong candidate for verification is an answer that is clear, complete, accurate, and includes actionable information. Complete answers should include understandable language, structure if lengthy, and address any known edge cases, limitations, or issues ✅.

If your answer is verified, it will be highlighted as blue and show on the events panel for the discussion.

Please do not ping members of our staff asking to verify your own answer.

Help us determine great answer candidates for verification: if you see an answer that you think should be verified, upvoting or emoji reacting to it is the best way to surface it ♥️

How does the team verify answers?

Our team follows a defined and manual process that ensures our verified answers are carefully selected and reviewed:

1. Our community moderators and managers review answers based on a few different metrics (like how many views the answer has gotten)
2. We create an issue which notifies our review team of subject matter experts, supportocats, and other trusted Hubbers, all of whom are handpicked to review these answers
3. Two folks from that team must sign off on the answer before verifying.

• We use GitHub Copilot to help surface resources to may be relevant to verifying that particular answer
• We use GitHub Actions to share a weekly report of what has happened in the world of verified answers

These layers of human-review align to responsible AI standards which allow us to surface community knowledge in other places where it may be helpful.

Does this mean any verified answer is an indisputable fact?

It means that based on the information available at the time of review, multiple people from GitHub have reviewed the answer, validated it, agree with the information, and determined it meets a “threshold of importance” to be given this level of accreditation.

We always recommend exercising best judgment when using this knowledge to ensure it is up to date, accurate, and relevant.

Why are you doing this?

We want you to be able to quickly find and use trusted community answers to solve your needs. These answers will go beyond the community and be surfaced in other relevant spaces allowing many people to benefit from our community knowledge. Verified Answers help us achieve our goal of a trustworthy and credible place to exchange expertise.

Can I filter answered questions by verified answers only?

Yes, in the search bar is:verified will return a list of answers that have been verified. You can do this globally on the whole community or on a particular category.

I think verifying answers is extremely good because it confirms information that participants can see and trust.
