[Complex?]: Prism-Launcher/alsa/openjdk cannot open alsa devices

While I have only been able to test on a mod I'm pretty sure any thing using javax.sound is not going to work. I'll be making a simple program to help reproduce eventually.

Oh umm I ran it with strace it launched, tried without again failed, tried again with strace failed? Anyway the strace is like half a gig how would you like me to send it

For this one, odds are that Reilly will be able to diagnose it himself once he finds the cycles to do so.

I just updated prism-launcher and tested this right after and it appears to be fine to me. I doubt they changed anything on the prism-launcher side here (though it's always possible) but perhaps this is an issue with your modpack somehow? I used vanilla 1.21.11 so it should be using openjdk-21.

I also tested using the system glfw and openal libraries and those were fine too (BTW if you use the system glfw minecraft will launch as a native Wayland window)

OH, you did install the mods right? or did you just use vanilla?

Vanilla. TBH if Vanilla works but mods don't then the issue is probably with the mods

I'll look at the mods code but from a quick preview it isn't directly opening a device, so doubt

Yep no direct requests to anything in /dev/ its only using java apis

Alright I've now tested minecraft version 1.18.2 with openjdk-17, and a modpack for version 1.21 and both had working audio. I'm not sure what else to do here but it doesn't seem like this is an issue with our builds of openjdk or of prismlauncher. I'm inclined to close this.
