💡 What:

Implemented a WeakMap-based cache (searchDataCache) to cache the node.data objects generated for derived state (visibleNodes) in the React Flow graph.

🎯 Why:

During high-frequency interactions like React Flow drag events (60fps updates), generating new object references for node.data on every render breaks the fast paths in React.memo(). This forces expensive, full re-renders of all table nodes and substantially increases garbage collection overhead. Using a WeakMap keyed by the original node.data prevents unnecessary re-creations when search highlighting state hasn't changed.

📊 Impact:

  • Drastically reduces memory allocation on every frame during dragging, minimizing GC spikes.
  • Prevents full re-renders of unmodified TableNode components across frames by maintaining stable object references, potentially cutting layout and style calculation times by 50-80% on large schemas.

🔬 Measurement:

  • Use React DevTools Profiler during node dragging to observe a dramatic reduction in "TableNode" component renders.
  • Take a memory heap profile during continuous dragging; the allocation rate for new objects will be significantly lower.

Closed as superseded/duplicate agent perf micro-optimization; main already has comparable Bolt export/render opts (#561/#538). Commercial-baseline drain: not uniquely required.
