iOS client crash on QR code scan

When the iOS or iPadOS app is already open in the background, using the QR code scanning function causes a crash.

Restarting the app resolves the issue.

@juban Are you scanning the QR code meant for adding a new device from the user profile page or the QR code meant for 2FA using the mobile app?

Can you provide a screen recording showing the issue?

Please also provide application logs. Here's a guide on how to obtain the mobile application logs.

Thank you for the investigation.
I meant QR code for 2FA. QR code for adding device seams to work fine (to be confirmed).

Do you still need the log file?

@juban Since we were able to reproduce it, it's not required. Stay tuned for updates on the issue.

The issue is caused by the used mobile_scanner library. It's already been reported in their issues juliansteenbakker/mobile_scanner#883. We need to consider replacing the library.

@filipslezaklab please research alternative QR scanning libraries and estimate the time required to replace it or rewrite it.
