age-keygen on termux: error: too many arguments

Hello,
I'm using age on termux (Android 11) and it's working fine if I use passphrase:

age -p IMG_010356.jpg > IMG_010356.jpg.age

But if I try to use age with age-keygen to generate recipients/identities, no matter what I type, I get:

age-keygen -o key.txt
age-keygen: error: too many arguments
age-keygen: report unexpected or unhelpful errors at https://filippo.io/age/report

Even typing age-keygen alone generates the same error. I suppose it's something related to termux only, and/or its user's permissions limitations.

Hi! What version of Termux are you using? Please also specify if it's the Google Play version or the GitHub/F-Droid one.

I use googleplay.2026.02.11 (very recent), and I got these numbers running android-info in termux, and also from the Android GUI, going to
Settings ▶ Apps ▶ Manage Apps ▶ Termux

TERMUX_VERSION=googleplay.2026.02.11
Packages CPU architecture: aarch64
termux-tools version: 3.0.9

It's definitely a Google Play (Store) version, since it's there that I installed it from.

Considering this past issue termux/termux-app#4630 (mistakenly submitted to the GitHub/F-Droid version repo), I think the problematic code might be at (or closely related to) these lines (in the Google Play version codebase repo): https://github.com/termux-play-store/termux-apps/blob/55937fedc6cf52e4cc6496ed659516fa59b65ff3/termux-app/src/main/java/com/termux/app/TermuxShellUtils.java#L95-L97.

Since the GitHub/F-Droid version handles command execution quite differently (see https://github.com/termux/termux-app/blob/5b657c6adf4304e5198951ce815fe0205dcac29c/termux-shared/src/main/java/com/termux/shared/models/ExecutionCommand.java), you might want to try the GitHub/F-Droid version and see if it works there (I am currently unable to do this myself, sorry). If that happens to work, you/we may submit an issue similar to termux/termux-app#4630 for the Google Play version here: https://github.com/termux-play-store/termux-issues/issues.
