detection of microbial reads on 10X Visium slides

This is more a methodological question than a technical issue, and probably a very naive one, but how are the microbial sequences detected on 10X Visium? Aren't the primers on the spots designed to capture poly-adenylated mRNA (Extended Data Fig. 1g)?
