ESP32-S3 N16R8 FLASH DOWNLOAD

Some users on YouTube appear to be having problems after flashing the firmware.
I only have one unit, and I have flashed the stock firmware and the updated firmware without any issues.
I am not sure if different ESP32-S3 modules are being used from different sellers. The module on the unit I have is shown below.

I have had issues before with the “ESP32-C3” and had to use the “BOOT” and “RESET” sequence because the device was continuously rebooting.
This was the sequence I had to use when I was uploading via the IDE. I have not tried the sequence with the flash download tool.
Putting the ESP32C3 into ROM boot mode:
• Press and hold “RST” and “BOOT” buttons.
• Release the “RST” button whilst still pressing the “BOOT” button.
• Release the "BOOT” button.
• Upload the new sketch from the IDE.
• When the upload has completed, press and release the “RST” button and the ESP32C3 should boot into normal mode and run the sketch.

I have another SI4732 (ESP32) receiver due for delivery in the next week or so , I will see if there are any issues.
If people want to post the transcript from the Flash downloader, I will try and investigate further.
In the meantime, I would suggest downloading the complete flash as a backup if you want to continue with the ATS-MINI installation.

Thank you so much for working on the updated firmware. I am one of the people with the bricked device. Have attached an image of my ESP32 - S3 module. It looks like I have the 8Mb version rather than the 16Mb version. MCN8R2. Not sure if that has an impact on the partition and bootloader files.

I think the 8M version should be okay for the N16R8 as well.
You should have the latest version v0.30 which has per band calibration.
Please let me know if everything seems okay and if so I will put a copy on the main page.

Thank you for the alternative firmware for Malysharik.
Maybe it will be possible to add a tuning step of 10 kHz for VHF, otherwise we in Russia will not be able to tune accurately to frequencies, for example, 70.79 MHz.
You can also return the tuning step of 1 MHz for VHF, so that you can move faster from the beginning to the end of the scale.
One more question, is it possible to make the RDS PI display, and not PS as it is now?

A quick response to your questions
As far as I understand, the minimum frequency step supported by the SI4732/5 for VHF is 50kHz (see below).

A tuning step of 1MHz for VHF can be added.

As far as the RDS information, yes it would be possible. But I expect others may want different information, so an option would probably need to be added.

With RDS yes, of course it's better to make a choice.
One more question, in the firmware there is a tab 10 Spare 1 and a tab 15 Spare 2, they don't work on any range, what are these tabs?

I will add the 1MHz step for FM in future releases.

For information, there is a slight quirk (bug) in the way that the SI4735 library band limits work for the frequencyUp() and frequencyDown() function calls, which means that the frequencies will not wrap from (min to max) and (max to min) as expected.

For example:
If you set the frequency to 64.10MHz and then set the step size to 200kHz.
Decrementing the encoder, the frequency should go to 108.00 MHz, but it will remain at 64.10MHz.

If you set the frequency to 64.00MHz and then set the step size to 200kHz.
Decrementing the encoder, the frequency will go to 108.00MHz.

A similar situation can occur for the AM bands.

It is related to how the functions work and the frequency limits of the SI4732/5.
I don’t see it as a major problem, but I may try and workaround it in the main code.
The issue became more apparent when was setting the step size to 1MHz.
