Everything's run in a linux container, which gets really confused by all the \r's if git auto-converts line endings to Windows, so we'll deal with line endings.

I'm about to close this request because I found out that
docker-compose rundoesn't work in Windows, which is a bit of a dealbreaker. But I wanted to document the work I did to get things working via this PR.
