There is one and only one Principle Target for each target group (using the target diagram group selection).
The Principle Target is the key volume that will be assessed for coverage during dose evaluation.
The Principle Target is almost always a PTV. if no PTV exists for a given target group there are two options:
Ignore that target group (Default, it assumes a labeling error has resulted in a false target group)
Use a CTV from the target group and if no CTV, use a GTV from the target group. If there are more than one CTV or GTV in the target group follow the same selection criteria defined for multiple PTVs below.
If the group contains more than one PTV use the following selection criteria:
If the group contains an eval PTV, use it
Prioritize PTVs without a subgroup
Prioritize PTVs without a laterality
If there are PTVs with & without opt, select the one with the smaller volume
Sort the selected Principle Targets using the same sorting criteria used for the target groups in the target diagram.
