GREI Y5: Project planning #552

@cmbz

Description

@cmbz

Overview

  • This issue enumerates the Harvard-specific tasks needed to plan and implement all GREI Year 5 objectives and tasks.
  • It functions as a punch list to remind us what we need to do and what planning work we've accomplished to-date
  • Note
    • A check mark indicates that planning (and scoping) is complete and the task can be scheduled.
    • Needs Scoping indicates that an issue has been created, but that the work needs to be scoped.

GREI Y5 Approved Plan

Objectives

GREI 1: #512

GREI 1 Scope

  • 1.1 Task: Investigate creating an interactive repository selection tool
  • 1.2 Task: Engage with FAIRsharing on a discussion of potential collaboration
Details

Planning Tasks

GREI 2: #513

GREI 2 Scope

2.1 Task: GREI repositories strive to implement components of GREI Metadata Recommendation (version 2)

  • 2.2 Task: Continue to develop and improve the All-GREI Metadata Completeness Dashboard
  • 2.3 Task: Continue to track emerging AI integrations at GREI repositories and related community initiatives to inform future GREI collaborations and recommendations
  • 2.4 Task: Engage and align with DataCite regarding metadata enrichment initiative with COMET, including consideration of integration into DataCite systems (API, interfaces, provenance) and potential for repositories to utilize these enrichments to update their metadata records

GREI 3: #514

GREI 3 Scope

  • 3.1 Task: Individual repository implementation of filtered search by funder and by research institution affiliation using ROR
  • 3.2 Task: Individual repository implementation of requirements to facilitate discovery in NLM Dataset Catalog
  • HDV Task: Harvard Dataverse harvesting
Details

Planning Tasks

GREI 4: #515

GREI 4 Scope

  • 4.1 Task: Individual repositories implement Make Data Count-compliant usage tracking and send to DataCite to enable usage statistics to be shared and reported to the wider community via DataCite
  • 4.2 Task: Continue to develop and improve the All-GREI Metrics Dashboard, which will include citations, views, and download metrics for NIH-funded works published in GREI repositories
  • 4.3 Task: Optimize repositories for FAIR repository and data assessment by conducting a feasibility assessment of FAIR Signposting Level 2 with optional implementation as feasible in Year 5
Details

Planning Tasks

Identify and plan MDC work to be completed, including:

GREI 5: #516

GREI 5 Scope

  • 5.1 Task: Collect examples of researchers sharing or reusing data in a Generalist Repository that showcase biomedical researcher user journeys across a range of research areas, methods, or translational stages
Details

Planning Tasks

Plan the following use cases:

  • NIH data reuse
  • Data journey
  • DP Wizard Use Case (e.g., "Using Differential Privacy to Data About Sensitive Data")
  • Large Data Support (new use case?)
  • Indigenous data (new use case?)
  • AI and Dataverse (e.g., Ask the Data, FAIRSCAPE, AI-in-a-Box)

GREI 6: #517

GREI 6 Scope

  • 6.1 Task: Evaluate emerging methods to track links between publications and datasets for biomedical use cases and NIH researchers
Details

Planning Tasks

Scope work needed for:

GREI 7: #518

GREI 7 Scope

  • 7.1 Task: Repositories complete self-assessment using QA/QC assessment tool developed in Year 4 and share findings to inform potential future work
Details

Planning Tasks

GREI 8: #519

GREI 8 Scope

  • 8.1 Task: Establish a GREI Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) composed of key stakeholders to ensure GREI tasks and objectives are aligned with the broader community's needs
  • 8.2 Task: Engage directly with diverse groups of biomedical researchers at targeted domain-specific conferences and events
  • 8.3 Task: Organize and host a researcher-focused virtual workshop/symposium to: 1) highlight GREI accomplishments and future work, 2) gather community input, 3) facilitate discussion of GREI repositories in the NIH data repository landscape, and future collaboration
  • 8.4 Task: Collaborate with research data landscape partners to contribute to resources and/or training on data sharing and reuse (e.g., NIH ICs and programs, domain-specific repositories including DRKB program, CTSAs)
Details

Planning Tasks

  • TBD
