Hi, I'm Joshua Jewell

- đź”­ I'm reading Animal Biology, Behaviour, Welfare and Ethics at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London (Y2 Resources)
- đź“š I'm learning how to update my GitHub more than once per year.
- ⚡ In my free time I've been making IDApTIK (immersive-sim ReScript game), Custom Ipsum (advanced Julia placeholder text generator), and Step Free (novel AI image detection using CSSL NN).

Academic & work — course scripts & production tools

  • abwe2-res — The scripts and data analyses used in my second year project.
  • dada2 (modified) — Performance‑tuned fork of benjjneb/dada2 with AVX2/AVX‑512, OpenMP and CUDA optimizations for substantially faster amplicon processing.

Research & utility — personal interests of mine

  • Custom‑Ipsum — Julia Markov‑chain placeholder‑text generator encoder and decoder architecture with both grammar-aware and domain-independent modes.
  • agentic — Experimental collection of Python & Julia agent scripts that interface with LM Studio’s REST API (WIP — use at your own risk). Developed further by Hyperpolymath's TJP repository.
  • Step‑Free — Training code, preprocessing and evaluation for AI image‑detection project using contrastive/self‑supervised learning (CSSL) that targets artefacts introduced by variational autoencoders (VAE's) used in AI image generation. Developed further by Hyperpolymath's ZeroStep repository.
  • Noahs‑APT — Intended to be apt with concurrent fetching of packages for increased speed.

Personal & experimental — games & demos

  • ID:ApTIK — Multiplayer stealth puzzle‑platformer prototype in TypeScript. Has better documentation than ApixiTIK.
  • ID:ApixiTIK — Lightweight, network‑focused variant of IDApTIK using Pixi and ReScript. Active development branch of ApTIK.
  • heartbeat — Don't ask, it doesn't work and somehow a major contributer to making my GitHub such a mess.
  • newpipedb‑visualisation — Julia scripts intended visualise NewPipe/Tubular playlist databases for personal analysis.
  • Tubular‑for‑vis — Fork of Tubular intended provide new playlist visualisation features.
