Can you add the tests for the bugs that are going to be fixed by this PR? At least #49907 should have a simple reproducer |

Added a test for #49907. I'm not adding one for #50448, because the reproducer is way too finicky, e.g., it doesn't even reproduce on all platforms. However, several packages trigger it, and since we run PkgEval with assertions enabled now that should be close enough. Going to merge this rather quickly so that the next PkgEval run uses this. |
