TypeType for Android 1.3.1
TypeType for Android 1.3.1 is a maintenance update focused on smoother Shorts
and playback transitions.
The application is still in beta. Thank you to everyone reporting problems and
helping improve it.
Improvements
- Shorts now transition more smoothly while swiping.
- Upcoming Shorts are prepared earlier to reduce visible loading.
- Autoplay now keeps the player in fullscreen when the next video starts.
- The Up next screen no longer reappears after autoplay has already started the
next video. - Video frames are preserved more reliably during temporary player resets.
- A video thumbnail is shown while the next video is preparing instead of a
black screen.
TypeType for Android remains compatible with Android 6.0 through Android 17 and
does not require Google Play Services.

TypeType for Android 1.3.0
I am very happy to share TypeType for Android 1.3.0.
This is the biggest Android update so far. The application is still in beta,
but this release brings it much closer to the experience and features available
in the TypeType web application.
What is new
- Native Shorts with swipe navigation, playback controls and preloading.
- Better playback recovery after network changes, interrupted requests and
expired SABR sessions. - Improved seeking, live playback, background playback and Picture-in-Picture.
- Audio-only playback, which can now be selected as the default.
- Media controls through notifications, the lock screen, headsets and
Picture-in-Picture. - Server-provided subtitles with styling and caption appearance settings.
- SponsorBlock controls, chapters and clearer skip feedback.
- DeArrow titles and thumbnails across supported video surfaces.
- Bullet comments with position and display settings.
- Native registration and OIDC login through an external browser.
- YouTube session pairing and resumable YouTube Takeout imports.
- Better channel pages, search filters, subscriptions and pagination.
- Watch history filters and visible Continue Watching progress.
- More complete content, privacy, playback and appearance settings.
- Improved tablet layouts, accessibility and large-text support.
- Faster startup through generated baseline and startup profiles.
- More resilient downloads, account restoration and process recreation.
TypeType for Android remains compatible with Android 6.0 through Android 17 and
does not require Google Play Services.
Some features depend on the capabilities exposed by your TypeType-Server
instance. If something does not work correctly, please open an issue in the
TypeType-Android repository.
The attached APK is built from the tagged source, signed by the release
workflow, checked for 16 KiB page alignment and verified against the Gradle
application version. A SHA-256 checksum is provided alongside it.

This release delivers the rebuilt native Android client for TypeType.

Reliability
- Subscription refreshes keep the current feed and scroll position visible
- Playback retries are bounded and reserved for transient network failures
- Automatic codec selection prefers reliable device decoders
- Fullscreen, rotation, playback speed, subtitle switching and seek recovery are more stable
- The sleep timer no longer allows autoplay to start another video
The APK is signed by the release workflow, verified against version 1.1.6,
checked for 16 KiB page alignment, and accompanied by a portable SHA-256 file.
If a locally signed development build is already installed, Android may require
it to be uninstalled before this release can be installed.
