Engineering and technology executive. I build and repair engineering organisations, and I stay close enough to the work to make the hard technical calls.
I am looking for my next full-time role as a VP Engineering, CTO, Director or Head of Engineering, or CTPO. I am based near Toulouse and work remotely across Europe.

- At Groupe Chantelle, I led digital and e-commerce engineering as a manager of managers. We reduced six stacks to two, cut annual run-rate from €4M to €3M, halved page-load times and held a 99.99% availability SLO.
- At Société Générale Equipment Finance, I created a Digital Factory from zero in under six months as managing director of a new subsidiary. Its AI risk engine reduced credit analysis from about two weeks to one day.
- At Société Générale, I ran innovation and developer-experience teams. We built YODA, an internal support assistant for 150,000 employees before ChatGPT, along with computer-vision, robotics and API-platform work.
I have worked with applied AI since 2016. More recently, that has included production RAG, a self-hosted fine-tuned model, agentic-commerce strategy, and customer-support automation benchmarks. The useful part is rarely the demo. It is the data, evaluation, integration and operating model around it.
Most of my recent work is in private company repositories. The public trail includes:
gatsby-source-personio, a Gatsby source plugin I wrote and published to npm.- Merged contributions to OpenGento's Magento 2 FrankenPHP base, including #4 and #6.
- alexandrecourtiol.com, built with Astro and deployed through its own publishing pipeline.
My day-to-day range covers organisation design and budgets, AWS and GCP, Terraform, Docker, CI/CD, TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, PHP and Magento, PostgreSQL, and production AI systems.
- Start with the operating constraint: reliability, cost, delivery speed, security or team ownership.
- Prefer boring systems that teams can run over clever architecture that needs its author in the room.
- Give teams ownership from code to production, with clear SLOs and infrastructure costs.
- Stay close to incidents, migrations and difficult design decisions without taking ownership away from the engineers and managers doing the work.
If you are hiring an engineering leader who can work from executive decisions down to the infrastructure and code, get in touch.
