Kerning in math font between R and subscript i is tight

Kerning in math font between R and subscript i seems a bit too tight

**To Reproduce**
Try $V_{R_i}$ in LuaLaTeX or XeLaTeX.

**Expected behavior**
The R should be sufficiently spaced from the i. In fact it almost clashes into it.
