Gamifying AMP with Support a 2D amp-story-grid for branching stories  #39513

Description

Currently an amp story moves forward and backward. However, imagine making a amp-story-grid into a 2d grid, where you can also move up and down. This seemingly simple change, allows amp stories to adopt an even wider use-case. Now imagine that you are viewing a very large infographic, and each node on the infographic is its own amp-story-page allowing a mobile device to navigate a large concept.

It also opens the door for gaming - as a 2d structure fits a map. So if you are navigating a map - lets say of a music festival or a conference - then detailed information can be show. But the biggest feature here is gamification of amp - now that we have amp-script and the full array of lottie, svg and javascript animations at our disposal - we can render a top-down view games, so amp could support gamified storytelling that is more complex than simply Bandersnatch (which is maybe possible currently) - but actually something more akin to early Zelda.

Alternatives Considered

Maybe better controls for jumping to a specific index in the exiting amp-story-grid so that it is more straight forward to render a large 2d structure. It would also be nice to have the option to swipe left or sipe up or down to navigate, as this is already used in 9:16 UX.

Additional Context

Browser gaming is cool, even with adtech - there are gamified ads, so i could see this feature being adopted by the amp-ads crowed as well.
