[BUG] Windows: Output renders as blank lines / excessive whitespace

What's Wrong?

Claude Code output shows blank lines instead of actual text content on Windows.

When I run any command, the response renders with excessive whitespace/blank lines. Only partial text is visible at the top and bottom of the response. The middle content is completely blank.

Tested on:

• PowerShell 7 (standalone)
• PowerShell 5 (Windows Terminal)
• VS Code integrated terminal

All have the same issue. UTF-8 encoding is confirmed (chcp 65001).

What Should Happen?

Output text should display correctly without blank lines

Same. After iterating a bit, it seems to be something about markdown because giving me a list of 10 things results in only the last one when it's doing what it normally does, but when I explicitly asked it not to use markdown in its reply the list was fine. This update is a big oof.

Temporary workaround. You can ask claude to write his whole answer in the last block/line. It seems that the last answer is visible constantly.

I ran into the same issue.
Downgrading to 2.0.72 fixed it for me.
