fail to mvn compile on win7

When run 'mvn clean compile', I got:
[ERROR] Failed to execute goal com.github.maven-nar:nar-maven-plugin:3.1.0:nar-validate (default-nar-validate) on project pulsar-checksum: Cannot deduce version number from: -> [Help 1]

does the build depend on local installation of visual c++ compiler?

could you please provide a how to build guide?

We never tried to build on Windows (just Linux and MacOS).

The build depends on building a small JNI extension to compute CRC32C checksum with SSE4.2 instruction. For that we need a C++ compiler, but I'm not sure how to have maven pickup the VisualC++ path.

Probably the quicker fix is to disable building the JNI lib on Windows. @rdhabalia can you give it a try?

The 'pulsar-checksum' project compile successfully on win7 after I:
1, installed ms visual c++ locally
2, update the nar-maven-plugin from 3.1.0 to 3.5.0

however I still fail to build the whole project on win7,
I need to comment out '' for the managed-ledger reference in some projects, otherwise compilation fail saying no tests jar on official maven repo.

i have to give up after I got following error:

in your previous comment you mentioned you are trying mvn clean compile instead can you try mvn clean install
