Can it be done for ZX81?

This is a fantastic project ! "integrating" the keyboard on the PCB is such a big save !

I came across it since I was looking exaclty for something similar but for ZX81: I like spectrum but I think that the ZX81 1K is the best modern real "fantasy console", and I'm more into it than else.

I think that ZX81 might be even a better fit since:

1. the PCB should be half the size, so much cheaper (naturally having it covering just the keyboard and a little more for the additional components, not the full original size)
2. the keyboard of the ZX81 was already flat, and so the final result will be even more similar to the original !
3. less color (black, red, white) might help to save money on PCB printing ?

As additional notes:

1. I think that leaving just VGA connector and / or (even better) a composite TV output can help to minimize costs with less PCB estate and cheaper components and an appearance more similar to the original. I would leave anyway mic/ear jacks to properly emulate the behaviour
2. there can be an option for the 3d printed case to be "squeezed" to cover just above the keyboard (without extending all the way as the original) to save also here costs

Is this hypothetical implementations far from the current ESP32 rainbow one?

ZX81 is definitely doable - the Z80 emulator should work (I think!).
