questions re: cordova-sqlite-storage 16kb support

I have received a notice from Android about recompiling the app with 16 KB native library alignment.
The Following Libraries
base/lib/arm64-v8a/libsqlcipher.so
base/lib/x86_64/libsqlcipher.so

I have Cordova Sqlite Storage version 7.0.0

How do we resolve this issue, l already have Android 15 and NDK 28 and 29 already on an Ionic 8 Capacitor 7.

Below is my Ionic 8 Capacitor 7 Environment.

Hi TDola, l did manage to figure it out. I did update my Awesome Core from 6 to 8. Updated Sqlite from 6 to 7 then ensure on Android studio the AGP is 8.5.1 or higher. Install the NDK to 28 or higher mine is set to 29. Under project settings select the NDK version 28 or 29 then sync the project. After that build the project and test it on Physical device or Simulator that supports 16Kb.

My app is Cordova (not Capacitor). I'm actually using the other cordova-sqlite-evcore-extbuild-free plugin that Brody made. I got to figure out what to do here. It looks like he built his own .so libraries?

Hello. I have a problem with the upgrade. After I upgraded the cordova-sqlite-storage to 7 and its awesome cordova plugin wrapper to 8 and my AGP higher than 8.5.1, I have the following problem:
When I open the device manager in android studio, inside my app's folder I see the databases folder with a .db file in it. This has a Date of 1970-01-01 (last modified) and it contains some older data that are now changed. The app is functional, the data are stored and you cannot tell that something is broken but I noticed that they are actually stored in leveldb, which is located inside the app_webview/LocalStorage/leveldb. This is a key-value stored that acts as a fallback to sqlite. I cannot seem to find a correct solution to make it use the sqlite. When I simply go back to capacitor 6 everything works as expected.

NOTE: in a newer project with angular 20 and standalone components the same exact libraries for the cordova-sqlite storage and awesome plugin wrapper works as expected.

Verificate if 16KB page size is supported:

zipalign -c -P 16 -v 4 app.apk | Select-String -Pattern "OK" -NotMatch

Use | grep -v "OK" instead if you use Linux/Mac.

Result:

Workaround:

zipalign -f -P 16 -v 4 app.apk app-aligned.apk

This should not be the final solution. This does not work with aab files. For this you can use the buildtool to find that out. In good case, this is aligned automatically when the following exist in config.

buildtool dump config --bundle=app.aab

This should already be resolved as discussed in other issue: #1021.

The OP description shows something about libsqlcipher.so which is NOT supported by this plugin version.

I have verified that this plugin has correct alignment using check_elf_alignment.sh script script as described in:

• Support 16 KB page sizes #1021 (comment)
• Google API Level 35 support + Page size 16K cordova-sqlite-ext#99 (comment)
• https://developer.android.com/guide/practices/page-sizes#alignment-use-script

I would like to close this if no minimal reproduction is forthcoming.

@brody4hire I tried the script and manually. The update from version 6 to 7 removed half of the entries, but two bad entries remain.

Here is the reproduction:

Zipalign is from SDK 35.0.0 (Android 15, there this is required). Btw. the check_elf_alignment.sh uses the same command.

@fudom I am not able to reproduce your observations with zipalign from either SDK 35.0.1 or 36.1.0. This looks like an issue with your work area. I highly suggest you try this with a brand new Cordova app, in a brand new work area.

It seems it was the wrong bundletool version what I used to extract the release apks. The latest version (1.18.3) works. Only because of the PAGE_ALIGNMENT_16K optimazation set in aab for uncompressNativeLibraries. Not yet uploaded to Google Play, but will see... Thanks.
