Mouse Bindings

I would like to have Mouse 4 and Mouse 5 (traditionally the side buttons of the mouse) bound by default as previous/next chapter (with Mouse 4 as previous and mouse 5 as next)

A lot of programs already include these kinds of keybinds by default including web browsers (back/forward) and file managers (back/forward), I haven't tested this with many media players, but the above suggested scheme is used in Media Player Classic (Windows Only) and it also seems to make a lot of sense.

If not bound by default, then at least I would like to be able to bind them myself in the preferences menu (but I'd prefer both honestly)

I would also like to suggest a rearrengement of the default mouse binds

Mouse 1 = Play/Pause
Mouse 1 Double Click = Fullscreen
Mouse 3 = Show/Hide Playlist

My reasoning is that mouse 1 for play/pause and double click for fullscreen is pretty much the norm for most media players. It can also be justified for a single mouse1 click to play/pause since if you double click you pause for a second then play again once you get fullscreen.

At least I would like to be able to optionally configure the M1 button to work this way if not as the default.

The M3 for show/hide playlist was just a random idea I got when thinking about what to do with it, it seemed to make sense to use it for the playlist if play/pause and fullscreen are already bound 👍

Now CMPlayer supports extra buttons up to 9 and the default binding for extra 1(back) and extra 2(forward) is to seek backward/forward.
Previous/next chapter as default binding is not acceptable because chapter is not a universal property for video files. Lots of video files don't have any chapters and this means that the default binding could be useless in lots of cases if chapter seeking is set as default.

I've never seen such media player.
mpv, smplayer, VLC, xine, kaffeine, totem... all players I've tested ever don't provide single click for play/pause by default.
Moreover, it's very bad idea to allocate any custom behavior to left button(first button).
First of all, there's no way to tell twice of single-click from double-click.
Double-click always triggers two 'single-click's.
If you double-click the window to enter fullscreen mode, then the player will be paused once and start again.
Well, there's one way to tell them but it will make delay to judge single-click or double-click about 0.5 sec.
Second of all, consider DVD/Blu-ray menu.
It's totally nonsense to bind 'on-screen-menu click' to other button to provide play/pause with single click.

Well, most players I've used have had next/prev chapter bound to that button, if the file has no chapters it just seeks to the next file. As long as the keys can be customized I don't have any problem with the default being seek backward/forward though 👍

I could have sworn VLC, SMPlayer2 and MPC all have the left button play/pause feature. Don't remember what MPV did though.

And sharing play/pause with fullscreen double click is ok, because if you doublei click you get pause->play->fullscreen instead of just ->fullscreen. It works. But you're right about the DVD menu part though. Well, it's not exactly a big issue for me so I don't mind, although it would be nice to have the option to enable that sort of behavior. Since some people (like me) may have gotten used to it.

What about mouse 3 (wheel click)?
