I wrote a post about investigating the maximum length of bookmarklets in 2007. I recently received an email explaining the 505/508 character discrepancy in that post. In re-visiting the post I realised that my test wasn't exactly as scientific/simple as it could be so I created this crappy little html/javascript thing to generate bookmarklets of specific sizes. I could use these generated bookmarklets to more accurately test the limits in IE.
