Is there a way to show text (download links) only to users registered to the competition?

Hi,

Is there a way to show text (download links) only to users registered to the competition? I know i can add a starter kit and a public data but my dataset is large (17GB). bigger than the quota (15GB). And i saw an open bug which makes uploading large datasets impossible. Is there a way to write text in the Files tab to another way to show a download link only to users who registered to the competition?

Hi @seroy123

I can think of the following 2 ways:

1. You can use the competition forum to announce a link to the dataset to only your participants
2. You can put a link in txt file and zip it and then upload it as the public data. This will show up in the Files tab that is only accessible to the participants

I fear that from my tests, un-registered user are able to see forum messages of competitions even if they are not registered. I would personally prefer option 1. Can that functionality be added soon? for an upcoming competition?

• Hide the forum for non-participating users

It makes sense that only participants can read and write to the competition's forum.

@seroy123 As a competition organizer, you can also send a request to info@codalab.org for quota extension.
As mentioned by Ihsaan, you can also put the download link inside the starting kit or public data, which are accessible only by participants of the competition.

Quick question: Even though I see the ticket is closed, I can still see and write forum posts at competitions I am not registered too. Is there a delay time for the application of the change?

Hi @seroy123,

Indeed, we merged this fix into the branch develop. Before having the change effective on the actual production server, we still need to merge it into master and to deploy it (see #1741). This will probably happen next week.
