The duplicate-tolerance decision here compares only the target type name bytes (
TypeNameUtf8.Equals), whereas the AOT compiler path inTypeMapMetadata.AddExternalTypeMapEntrycompares resolvedTypeDescidentity. Two entries with the same key and the same type-name string but differentfallbackAssemblywould be treated as identical (and the second silently dropped) at runtime, while the compiler compares by type identity. In practice the mapped target names are typically fully qualified so this is unlikely to diverge, but it is a subtle semantic difference between the lazy runtime path and the AOT path worth confirming is intentional.Uh oh!
