I think in your readme, your second instruction number 5 needs to be something like:
patch -p1 patch_python3.6.patch
when running from $PYTHON_DIR

However, even with that, the build-target-python.sh script isn't working for me: it breaks, asking: "Are you sure your NDK_MODULE_PATH variable is properly defined ?"

I'm trying to build python 3.6.6 for crystax for kivy for android, with dbm support. I don't know if I'm going to be successful, but this NDK_MODULE_PATH is what's currently stopping me getting further.

The error message is:

Context: I'm using shelve in python, and that seems to depend on dbm, and although it works on pc, when I build it with buildozer using the stock crystax + python 3.5, and run the resulting apk on my android phone it crashes, having failed to load the dbm module. So now I'm trying to build Python 3.6 for crystax, and then recompile with buildozer, in the hope that the resulting apk will happily use shelve.

I'm tidying up a PR and some patches to fix this, in the meantime, you can:

Add -DXML_POOR_ENTROPY to the pyexpat CFLAGS in $NDK_DIR/build/tools/build-target-python.sh.
