Description
I searched for a bit, but I didn't find any issue talking about tracking download/upload progress, seed count and other similar information.
In torrent clients, you always have the ability to see what you are downloading, uploading, seed and peer count, etc. Of course that interface doesn't apply very well to IPFS, however I think some information that is currently inaccessible via any API (as far as I know) would be very useful to build interfaces and apps:
- download progress of items from the bitswap wantlist
- seed and peer (as in seeders and people requesting it) count, if possible of course, for everything in the wantlist (and maybe arbitrary hashes)
- some data about IPNS names, such as latest record date, expire date, seeds and maybe even information about past, expired records
- upload progress of hashes and in general some information about what requests is the node currently fullfilling
- similar information but about other nodes (if it's already used by the local node, no point downloading it just to show it off)
I'm sorry if this information is available elsewhere, but I couldn't find anything in my limited search
