Support VS "15" Lightweight Install Experience

Visual Studio "15" offers a new lightweight install experience that takes VS install time down to around 90 seconds. We would like to onboard NTVS onto this new lightweight install experience and include NTVS as an install option that users can select during initial VS installation.

This issue tracks work required for to onboard NTVS onto the new VS "15" lightweight install experience.

General

• Have to comment out WebApplications import in Microsoft.NodejsTools.target
• Manually copied Project templates and Item templates into correct locations.

Current Status

Interactive Window

• Launch
• Run basic Javascript code
• Run npm commands.

Create New Project

• Blank Node app.

• Web applications.

  Fails with the error message about installing Web Developer Tools (unless you install these manually)

Open Existing Project

• Console App
• Web application (Fails with same error message as creating a new web applicaiton)

Intellisense

• Full Intellisense

• ES6 Preview.

  Disabled since Typescript is not installed. We do not want to ship without the modern ES6 Intellisense experience enabled.

Debug / Run

• Launch
• Breakpoints
• Stepping
• Inspect values

Npm integration

• Download NPM
• Install window.
• Search NPM
• Uninstall package
• Npm Package browser

Test Explorer

• Export tests.

  Do not get picked up

• Mocha tests.

  Do not get picked up

Preview Blocking Issues

• Smart indent Provider not found (fixed with Unblock Lightweight install Smart Indent Provider null deref #851)

• No ES6 Preview Intellisense since Typescript is not installed.

  Need to coordinate with the Typescript team to see when they can get Salsa onto Willow.

• Cannot create empty Express applications or open existing express application (no Web Developer tools installed)

  The second part is actually worse than the first. For creating new projects, we could just choose to ship without the templates that require that add-on, but we cannot ship if we cannot open existing NTVS projects properly.
