1. When I go to the apps tab after connecting to the server, I have to click refresh to get the list, it isn't already populated.

I've successfully diagnosed and fixed both issues you reported with the MCP Apps implementation.

Issues Identified & Fixed

1. Apps Tab Not Auto-Populating

Problem: When navigating to the Apps tab after connecting to a server, the tools list wasn't being fetched automatically. Users had to manually click the refresh button.

Root Cause: The Apps tab was missing a useEffect hook to trigger data fetching when the tab becomes active. Other tabs like Tasks had this pattern, but Apps didn't.

Fix: Added a useEffect in App.tsx (lines 482-486) that automatically calls listTools() when:

• The Apps tab becomes active
• The MCP client is connected
• The server supports the tools capability

Root Cause: The AppRenderer component had a useEffect that depended on onReadResource in its dependency array. Since onReadResource is a function that gets recreated on every render, this caused the effect to run infinitely:

@claude The first issue with the app auto-population is fixed. nice one. And the second problem with all the errors has been fixed.

However, now, when I click the tool, it shows the "Loading MCP App..." spinner and never renders.
In the screenshot below, you can see that it sent a request for the resource and got the HTML back in response. It just never attempted to render it apparently.

There is a warning note about the iframe in the open browser inspector console. Seems safety related but probably not the source of the issue. Presumably we will want to address that eventually, but first things first, let's get it rendering.

Not sure where it is hung, but if you can throw out some console logging, maybe we can see how far along it got. I suspect the Apps tab isn't aware of the incoming resource/read response.

Issue Identified & Fixed

The app wasn't rendering because of a React useEffect dependency issue in AppRenderer.tsx.

Root Cause: The useEffect hook that fetches the UI resource (line 46) was only depending on [resourceUri]. When the resourceContent prop updated after the resource was successfully fetched, React didn't re-run the effect to check if it should proceed with the app setup. This caused the component to remain stuck in the loading state.

The Fix: Added resourceContent to the dependency array: [resourceUri, resourceContent]. Now the component properly reacts when the resource content arrives and proceeds with rendering.

Root Cause

The app wasn't rendering because of a timing issue with iframe visibility. Here's what was happening:

1. The AppBridge connected successfully ✅
2. But the iframe was hidden with display: loading ? "none" : "block"
3. The loading state only cleared when bridge.oninitialized callback fired
4. Problem: The PostMessage handshake between the iframe and host requires the iframe to be visible to complete
5. Since the iframe was hidden, the app inside couldn't send initialization messages back, so oninitialized never fired
6. Result: Infinite waiting state with hidden iframe

Solution Implemented

Modified AppRenderer.tsx to make the iframe visible before establishing the PostMessage connection:

Key changes:

• Set loading = false immediately after writing HTML to the iframe (line ~154)
• This makes the iframe visible before creating PostMessageTransport
• The PostMessage handshake can now complete successfully
• Removed redundant setLoading(false) from oninitialized callback

6. The app should be fully interactive

The key insight is that iframes with display: none cannot participate in PostMessage communication, which is essential for the MCP Apps AppBridge handshake protocol.
