How to update FlowVision?

Both Latest and MacUpdater shows there is a new version available for FlowVision. How can I update the app? I can not find anywhere Update option. I am very sorry, if it something obvious I just can not find.

Yes, you are correct. This software does not have an auto update feature.

Because the most commonly used auto update framework, Sparkle, requires loading as a dynamic library. Sometimes, loading dynamic libraries on macOS can unpredictably take longer (for example, you might notice that large programs like MS Word have a much slower initial startup speed on macOS compared to Windows). The other frameworks currently used in this app are all compiled with static embedding or lazy loading to ensure "instant opening."

As an image viewer, sacrificing 0.5 seconds of initial loading time for automatic updates is, in my opinion, not worth it. On the other hand, from a privacy perspective, this software does not have any network connections (such as checking for updates), which is a deliberate design choice.

You can also use Homebrew to install: brew install --cask flowvision and update: brew upgrade flowvision.

I 100% support the decision against automated updates. However it's good to know if a new version is available.

Can we check it on start (but not more often than once a day) and show a banner like that?
