We'd previously added cookie settings for language but hadn't removed Session values since these were not removed yet and had only been marked as to-be-deprecated.
edx-platform has few usages of session for language key https://github.com/search?q=repo%3Aopenedx%2Fedx-platform%20request.session%5BLANGUAGE_SESSION_KEY%5D&type=code removing whom will be a simple change in my opinion. I'll spin up a fix PR for this to test.
