Include maxminddb extension?

The maxminddb extension is widely used and provides significant performance benefits for projects that read MaxMind databases (such as Matomo and others).

It’s already available via the PIE installer.

Would it be possible to include it in the default set of extensions?

If you use the deb or rpm packages, you can install it with pie.

sugo dnf install php-zts-devel
sudo pie install maxmind-db/reader-ext --with-php-config=php-config-zts

As for the standalone binary, I don't think that extension is common enough. We can give it a shot, but it might take a while as I'm currently busy with other things.

rpm and deb releases will have php-zts-maxminddb installable in ~2 hours.
