My journey in tech started back in 2010 as an intern at GBSYS, a Costa Rican software development company. I was still hitting the books as a 3rd year student of my Software Engineering Bachelors degree, juggling both definitely added to the fun! My first official job in tech was in 2011-2013 in Software Quality Assurance at Bodybuilding.com, and that experience shaped how I write code today. I'm all about those clean, reliable practices! Then mid 2013, the stars aligned, and I stepped into my first full-fledged software engineer role... and I haven't looked back since!
What I'm Up To Now
Currently, I'm a Senior Software Engineer at ITOS, working on some seriously cool stuff. We're building a new unified web portal for process observability between sister companies. It's all about enabling our customers to share knowledge across organizations, pretty exciting, right? But I'm always looking towards my next steps which is why I'm currently learning AI Engineering. I've always been passionate about building intuitive customer facing applications and integrating AI into our existing ecosystems feels like the next logical step.

- ⚡ While I'm based in Costa Rica, I've lived in Austin TX for a few years, and I also lived in Madrid; I am by all means a world-trotter unafraid of relocation.

I've got over 13 years under my belt, building scalable web applications. My toolkit includes:
- Frontend: React, Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5/CSS3
- Backend: Python, Node, REST APIs, Microservices, Serverless
- And I'm all about software quality – testing, documentation, the works!
More Than Just Code
When I'm not coding, you'll probably find me:
- Whipping up new recipes in the kitchen – I love experimenting! I value and prioritize my health, so I always try to find new macro-balanced meals that hit that comfort food spot.
- Crocheting Amigurumi - it's all about making small stuffed figurines, I love making video game or movie characters.
- Hosting friends for epic board game nights - whether its Catan, Splendor, D&D Lords of Waterdeep or some good old fashion Parcheesi or Rummy-Q; there's nothing quite like hanging out, talking about anything and everything with good music, good food and good friends.
- Catching live music – while I love going to concerts, its not the only way to watch live music, anytime there's a good cover band playing or a jazz night, I'll likely be there.
- Getting lost in a good sci-fi or fantasy book - books are a fantastic escape from "real life" and I have a vivid imagination.
- Playing videogames, I grew up with the Japanese NES Super Mario saga but my heart belongs to the Zelda. Although PlayStation is also a passion of mine, I mostly play single player games like Uncharted, Horizon, Tomb Raider, etc.
- Or, if I'm really lucky, flying off to some new corner of the world - the more I travel the smaller I feel (and at 5'1" that's saying something)
