Please create an AppData file for Redshift

Please consider writing and installing an AppData file with the application description and some screenshots, else Redshift looks really bad in the GNOME and KDE Software Centers. We'd love to showcase more applications, but without the extra data file we can't. See http://people.freedesktop.org/~hughsient/appdata/ for details; thanks!

Would it be appropriate to create an AppData file for both redshift and redshift-gtk or only for the GUI?

Any suggestions on the screenshots? The file does not seem to be valid without them but I have a hard time coming up with a good composition that clearly shows what Redshift does.

That's a good question. If i were you I would "fake" the screenshots and just make them more blue/red using something like gimp. I know it's cheating, but it'll be representative.

The effects I "faked" the image on website should be clear.
However, perhaps switch the background image to something
whiter (but keep some dark components in the image) and
include the status icon.

@hughsie By the way, it appears that the validator on the spec web site is no longer working. I tried it yesterday to validate the updated appspec file but it failed with an error.
