Ugly Desktop Zoom on HiDPI screens

Hi, I am on fedora 29 and variety works perfectly - thanks! However, because I have just started using a big screen, which I am still getting used to, I have set the desktop scale to 200% in the fedora settings. This works well for viewing, but I lose the nice pixellation of images, which occasionally has the pixels really blocky, as they are displayed at the greater resolution.
Whilst I'm tempted to hack at the code, is there a config file setting or an easy way of accessing imagemagick configuration variables or similar, for the visual effects, to cope with the increased zoom?

I changed the last line of the configuration file to read:
filter8 = True|Pixellate|-scale 3% -scale 33%
I'm not sure if this is correct yet, just reduced by a factor to difference, but I might have got the wrong end of the stick since I haven't the time to read the imagemagick docs.

Also, I did some hacking of the quotes, and noticed that quotedaddy is now done and seemingly gone. I also realised that one has to install the fortunes program to see the quotes, which I did, and I discovered that changes to python have broken the scripts and byte strings have to be decoded explicitly now, it seems.
Here is line 99 from goodreads.py:

and I also made a new plugin to download dictionary definitions from urban dictionary. Sad, I know.

@millerthegorilla All the imagemagick effects are editable in the config file and you can add your own too.

Regarding the quotes plugin - UrbanDictionary is an interesting suggestion, do you mind if I include it as a default quotes plugin (see #263) ?
