Thunderbird attempting to load glibc exclusive library libresolv on a musl system

Expected behaviour

When adding a network address book, calendar, or email with SSO, it should be able to properly fetch the necessary network resources from the provided URL.

Actual behaviour

Instead, Thunderbird attempts to load glibc library libresolv.so and fails complete the network request.

Steps to reproduce

• Run ThunderBird from CLI to get it to output debug logs to the terminal
• Attempt to add a network address book, calendar, or email account with SSO
• It will output an error like:

JavaScript error: resource:///modules/DNS.worker.mjs, line 61: Error: Couldn't find libresolv for linux; tried: libresolv.9.so,libresolv.so.2,libresolv.so

I can't be sure. I've installed Void Linux on my desktop about a few weeks ago and this issue was present. I can't say for how long ago this regression came about though because I haven't been using void for that long.

libresolv is part of libc.so on musl (instead of being a separate file) so thunderbird just has to be told to look for it. will push the fix soon.

@classabbyamp looks like this was fixed upstream with version 146; chimera dropped their patch for it:

in the meantime here's their patch for thunderbird versions 113 thru 144:

and we follow thunderbird ESR

that patch won't work for both glibc and musl, but I've already figured out what the patch should be, I'm just testing it first...

Not a new issue--I've run into it about a year ago.

My solution was to run it in Distrobox and do the setup from there.
