In that pull request log parameters are used instead of string concatenation.
Instead of manual conversion I can provide an automatic transformation result.

What I don't like about them

• using function calls as parameters does not feel right
• they break formatting sometimes

But I wanted to make the offer for you to decide.

Can you file a PR to start with so that we can review more easily?

I did as requested.
For incremental adoption of formatting project source code I see two options:

1. use spotless formatter, which supports "formatting onyl files since some commit id". I used that before.
2. the clang formatter is reported to support formatting java and to support to format only changed lines. I don't tried that.

Eclipse does have a save action to format only changed lines, too but I don't know an easy way to use that programmatically.
