As mentioned in #524 (comment) one could maybe put things in a common (temporary) directory

Edit: this is off-topic due to the reason of deprecation (see next comment)

FWIW distributed.utils.tmpfile was deprecated because there was a duplicate dask.utils.tmpfile utility over in dask. One option would be to just swap out the import to use dask instead of distributed

Now I was really confused about myself because I actually put the replacement in the title and thought that it was actually already replaced. I will create a quick PR.
